Advice

  • Avoid blood thinners (e.g. aspirin, paracetamol, alcohol) 1-2 days before getting tattoo’ed.

  • Try to limit caffeine intake the day of the tattoo.

  • Try to get a good nights sleep and rest up before your tattoo, the more tired you are, the more you tend to feel the pain!

  • Have a good sized breakfast and feel free to bring snacks. Sweets and a sugary drinks are always good for long sessions!

  • For the longer sessions keep your sugars up later in the day, your body will have been through some trauma so its important to care for it sufficiently. Stay hydrated, full and rested!

  • If you can, try to care for your skin even before the tattoo. Skin that is regularly moisturised and exfoliated is much easier to tattoo and will come out better. Especially for drier areas like elbows and knees, start moisturising at least two weeks before to soften the skin.

  • Anything that ages your skin quicker will age your tattoos quicker. Using sun cream regularly and moisturising after the healing period will keep your tattoo looking fresh for longer!

  • It is however very normal for tattoos to fade slightly whilst they settle into your skin over time. When healing, parts of the ink can sometimes be absorbed or fall out. If this happens please reach out to me and we can schedule a touch-up free of charge!
